House prices up 5.5 percent in October - DCLG

House prices rose 5.5 percent on the year in October, down from a 6.1 percent annual gain in September, government data showed on Tuesday. The Department for Communities and Local Government said house prices fell 0.1 percent on the month, taking the average price of a home to 209,466 pounds.
