Barclay brothers to expand hotels portfolio - report

Published 25th Jan 2011

Private investors David and Frederick Barclay are set to take a controlling stake in three of London's most prestigious hotels, the Financial Times said on Tuesday.

The billionaire brothers are set to raise their stake in Coroin, the parent company of Maybourne Hotel Group, to 60 percent with the acquisition of the interest of Derek Quinlan, the newspaper said, without citing sources.

Maybourne owns the Berkeley and the Connaught in addition to Claridge's in London.

The newspaper said the final details of the deal with Quinlan were still being agreed.
