New Factsheets for Tenants & Landlords

Three new factsheets have been published by Housing Minister, Grant Shapps, in order to prevent common misunderstandings between tenants and landlords. The factsheets aim to bring tenants and landlords up to speed on their rights and responsibilities, and to reduce disputes.

Dos and Don'ts: for landlords, giving advice on securing a suitable letting agent, the need for written agreements and inventories, and protecting tenants' deposits.

Dos and Don'ts: for tenants, giving tips on the legal requirements of renting, how to deal with disputes and what to expect from a landlord.

Gaining Possession: to help landlords decide which route to follow when they need to take back their property, including how much notice they must give the tenant and guidance on the procedures which can be used to help speed up the process.
