Seaside towns north of the border have enjoyed a massive house price boom in recent years, a survey has found.
Figures compiled by Halifax Estate Agents found that towns on the Scottish coast had delivered a solid return for the investors.
Eyemouth, in the Scottish borders, for example, has seen the average house price increase by 83 per cent in the last three years.
Even with this massive increase, the average home still costs just £155,278. This compares to more than £260,000 in other desirable seaside towns such as Christchurch in the south-west.
"Seaside towns tend to have house prices that are at a premium to their surrounding areas and have generally seen strong house price growth over the past few years," said Colin Kemp, managing director of Halifax Estate Agents.
"There are still some bargains to be had for homebuyers. Bridlington, Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth are the three seaside towns in Britain that offer the best value for money."
Christchurch ranked highest in terms of quality of life, followed by Leigh-on-Sea, Bexhill and Shoreham.
