Fed-up Brits 'jumping ship'

Published 17th Sep 2007

A recent poll carried out for the Taxpayers Alliance has shown that two in every five people in the UK are seriously considering moving abroad...

This is a dramatic increase since last year and the highest since records began in this current form back in 1991. There are now over 5 million British born subjects living permanently abroad, with some 385,000 of these leaving in the last year.

There are many reasons cited, but taxes, poor public services, spiralling property prices and peoples frustration that they are working even harder just to maintain their current standing, are amongst the most common explanations.

However, this UK exodus is having a positive affect on the overseas property markets with Spain being one of the favourite destinations for those looking for quality of life.

Investors have nothing to fear
Rob Shaw, Marketing and Operations Manager for Spanish Algarve Properties says, “Spain has had its fair share of criticism in recent months, perhaps unfairly so considering Spain was the catalyst for so many Brits buying abroad. Those that own in Spain or are considering investing here, have nothing to fear.

“This is a tried and tested market and it geographic location ensures it a prosperous future. The Costa de la Luz has avoided most of the negative press, as it is an emerging market within Spain.

“This region has started to see major upgrading of infrastructures in recent years and these upgrades along with quality developments being built at prices not generally associated with Spain are set to make this one of the strongest Costas to invest in.”
