“COLOUR IS THE NEW BEIGE - BRUSHES AT THE READY!”

TV makeover shows have been accused of turning Britain bland according to a recent survey carried out by a major paint manufacturer.

Now design duo Colin and Justin are urging householders to dump beige and go colour-crazy!

Householders have been religiously following advice by ‘experts’ like Five’s House Doctor Anne Maurice to keep decorating colours neutral. The survey revealed 55% of people now choose to live in blandly decorated homes.

When asked, 41% with cream or off-white colour schemes said they did it largely on the advice of some TV design gurus or estate agents and only 3% said they actually liked cream or off-white!

But the future is looking brighter. And on behalf of the householders who want to indulge their own tastes rather than that of the bland brigade colourful duo Colin and Justin are at the front-line of the fight-back!

Justin said; "We're on a two man mission to paint Britain out of its boring bone, clotted cream and pebble coloured corner!

"Up until lately, Britain has been TERRIFIED of colour due to a raft of shows which lectured that EVERYTHING must be cream.

“Which was all very well when we were a nation obsessed with selling. Now the property market has cooled slightly, home users are realising that the biggest return they can get from their home is on a DAILY basis. Which is where colour slots neatly into the picture. At long last people are taking emotional possession of their homes. They're working their spaces to suit themselves, and NOT some random buyer who might just pay more because they have a beige bedroom, a cream living room and a sand coloured hallway."

Colin added; "It's time to give beige the brush off. Hasn't Britain had enough Magnolia? Come on - we're here to turn up the lights on drab Britain and we mean business! The homes for which we're responsible have always had measured shots of colour throughout but these days we're brightening up even further. The key word will still be restraint - 'A little, after all, can go a long long way!' - but, put simply, it's simply time to press the UK 's colour button.

“We see literally dozens of cream painted homes each week and we've become terrified of this decorating homogeny. Whatever happened to individuality.

"We actually had to go and film 'Colin and Justin's Home Heist' (our brand new UKTV Style series) in Canada because, 12 months ago, Britain simply wasn't ready. Over there they simply LOVE brighter tones so we were able indulge our clients AND ourselves. Britain, at the time, was still in its beige period and simply couldn't cope with the prospect of adding colour via design. But what a difference 12 months has made. Now, it seems, home users have seen the light due to a changing property market. Thank God COLOUR is the new beige! Brushes at the ready!"

"Brighten up with Colin and Justin! Yup, we're prepared to do battle with any other designer or TV host who tries to keep you on the beige and narrow by bullying you with their cream counsel. For heavens sake - it's a dull decorating dictum to keep everything constantly muted. Colour is back, BIG TIME, and we're championing it's return with renewed vigour!"
