Homeowners and landlords looking to make improvements to their property before selling it on should consider installing a new, eco-friendly boiler.
Worcester Bosch Group, manufacturers of domestic boilers, has advised that a new boiler not only makes a home "greener", it also brings considerable financial benefits.
Neil Schofield, head of sustainable development at Worcester, Bosch Group, said: "One of the biggest improvements you can do is when you replace your old boiler to have an A-rated condensing boiler; you can save something like £250 a year in that situation."
According to a guide published last year by Worcester, if a property has a boiler that is 15 years old, it will only be around 65 per cent efficient. That means for every pound spent on fuel, 35p is wasted.
Sellers that want to add value to their property could also benefit from a new boiler's green credentials. Worcester's report states that replacing an old boiler could reduce a home's CO2 emissions by 1.1 tonnes.
